Amp FreQQ can be used easily without a controller, via built in keyboard control. Whilst compatible with a large range of other controllers, we have found one that from a price and usability point, is perfect for the FreQQ. The Akai Midimix, and so, we include a guide here, as it is one of the options available in our online shop. When you first receive your Midimix controller, please follow these instructions:

Set your knobs and faders as close as to the image shown as possible. This will be the default settings and the app will synchronise to the controller easier.

You really only need to use source gains to get the maximum signal into the system and Master gain to control the overall volume. Kill faders should be used for correction and tone balance, mainly, until you become more familiar with the controls and can begin to take advantage of the programs more advanced features.

The Midimix can be used in 3 modes: Legacy, EQ Focus or Siren Focus. Legacy mode was the default mode before July 2020. In EQ Focus mode, the 8 knobs on the left top corner control the Parametric Equalizer. In Siren Focus mode, the same 8 knobs control the parameters of the Dub Siren.

NOTE: EQ Focus have some Dub Siren controls nonetheless: trigger, preset selector and rate.

If you are unable to download the files, please try right click and save.

Playlist operation

Please ensure you have carefully created playlists in advance . Instructions are here Playlist

Whilst most controls are self explanatory, the playlist control is something unique to the FreQQ.

The 9th end button (you must keep it pressed) provides a shift and accesses the 8 extra controls in two banks of 4 button, the same controls for Playlist A & B, that are notated UNDER the eight controls shown in the picture:

In Two banks of 4 button, same controls for Playlist A & B

From Left to Right

1 or 5 LOAD & PLAY – This immediately loads and plays the highlighted track

2 or 6 SCROLL UP– Scroll the currently selected track one up at a time

3 or 7 SCROLL DOWN – Scroll the currently selected track one down at a time

4 or 8 PLAYBAR VIEW – This is a toggle switch that converts the playbar to display the currently selected track in the Playlist

General operation

  • Shift and PLAYBAR VIEW, toggles display on, scroll through your playlist until you find a track you want to play
  • Then leave it on screen or revert by pressing toggle off Shift and PLAYBAR VIEW,
  • When you are ready to play the track press, Shift and LOAD & PLAY

With this method you can always have two tracks ready in advance

Notes :

  • The Killer frequency knobs (Bass,Mids,Tops) are set hard left anticlockwise as these are the default settings. For beginners, we recommend to leave these as they are and only adjust the Sub Bass to suit. (This is set at around 9 o clock at default)
  • Remember to always return the Dubfilter to the hard left anticlockwise position , after use.
  • The top right button (By the Digital dub machine logo) is not in use by the app and is a fixed function of the controller. Do not use as it will send all levels of the controller to the app.
  • Use it all gently and carefully 🙂
